Africa

Magical Kenya was the first country I visited in sub-saharan Africa, the first office my company established on the continent, and my home for two happy years. How to articulate in just a few lines everything this wondrous place means to me. My favourite memory? Which to choose?

Kenya

The loving reunion of mother and son leopards after a decade hunting alone? Waking to the sounds through open shutters of children laughing from coral houses on Lamu beachfront? The bright red soil-covered elephant herd climbing the early morning hills on the plains of Samburu?
Perhaps the horde of wildebeest suddenly jumping into the croc-infested Mara river in an explosive churning of mother nature? Or hiking the rim of Longonot volcano with its thick foliage filled crater below?
Maybe sailing in Dhows round the white-sand beaches , mangrove forests and Swahili ruins of Watamu? Or opening my curtains one morning on Lake Naivasha to find a huge hippo hoovering up the grass of the lawn? There’s no end to the joy this country has given me and still I’m coming back. I hope I always will.
